Sorapiana
Soprapiana vineyard
Located in Colbertaldo, in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG area, this vineyard lies at the foot of the Mass Bianchet hill.
Originally planted in 1978, the plot was replanted in 2022 following an outbreak of Flavescenza dorata that affected the old vines.
To preserve the remarkable complexity this site has always provided, we replanted using 14 different clones, selected in collaboration with the Consorzio di Tutela. This choice ensures the preservation of local biodiversity and allows us to bring grapes with a diverse aromatic profile directly into the cellar. This vineyard already yields some of our finest base wines, characterized by excellent aromatics and structure.
The terrain has a moderate slope, with a southern exposure and rows running east-west. The soil is quite deep with a significant clay content, which ensures excellent water retention and drought resistance, while the naturally breezy conditions prevent any issues with waterlogging.
The underlying bedrock consists of marl, specifically the salìs type—a particularly friable rock characteristic of this area—which imparts a distinctive mineral and savory quality to the base wines. The vines are trained 100% using the Sylvoz system.
